BELIZE

BELIZE: LA LOMA HOSPITAL

WE HAVE GREAT NEWS PART 1

WE HAVE GREAT NEWS PART 1

Prior to our Bible Work program, Mrs. Catherine Contreras was recovering from a stroke which prompted our first home visit as a hospital. Our Chaplain and her husband offered to do Bible studies with her and her husband and from then have been visiting the family.  Upon the hire of our Bible worker, Mrs. Sharon Stowe, they were both added to our program. Mr. Contreras had one special request: “Please do not mention anything to my wife about baptism.” Mrs. Stowe assured him that we will go through our Easy Bible Studies and will not bring up Baptisms until they reach that topic.

Mrs. Stowe took up studying with Catherine and her husband and with all the studies and visits from the BTTB Church family and our Bible worker, Catherine and Dennis decided to commit their lives to God on June 30th, 2024, the date of their anniversary. The two carefully planned the date for their baptism. It was “the perfect Anniversary date,” said Catherine. It was their wedding date with Jesus and a decision she feels she had made all on her own.

Praise God for the way His Spirit works in the hearts of men and women. Please pray for the people in Esperanza Village because God is doing a great work there.

Our hospital’s security officer, Mr. Eustace Jones, was moved by the Spirit of God to surrender his life in baptism to Jesus. The Southwest Belize Mission hosted a one-week evangelism program

under the theme “Liberation” and since they were doing baptisms, our Bible worker, Mrs. Sharon Stowe, visited with Eustace and his wife and inquired about the readiness of their decision for newness in Christ on the same day of September 25th.

Just before Sharon got there, our Chaplain

received a distress call from Mrs. Jones who shared the need for prayer for her husband and her family. A tearful Mrs. Jones felt like her home was crumbling but our Chaplain prayed with her and asked the Lord to intervene in the home situation. She prayed that God would send His angels over there to fix the situation

A few minutes after the call, the angels showed up! Our Bible worker, Sharon and her assistant, Sister Ruth, went there like angels with the good news of salvation. Praise the Lord!

That day, the Lord rescued the Jones family! On September 25th

Eustace Jones decided that he would give his heart to Jesus. He publicly demonstrated his belief that Christ is his Savior. In Luke 15:7 the Bible declares “I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one

sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.”

The story does not end there. Mrs. Maureen Jones enrolled in our Bible study program in March 2024. It all started by meeting our Dietitian/Chaplain for a meal plan due to abnormally high blood sugar levels during her pregnancy. After encounters via small group meetings, our Chaplain asked her if she was interested in Bible studies. She said yes! Sharon Stowe started Bible studies with Maureen in March and she has been studying with her ever since. All of November, the Holy Spirit has been leading us at the hospital to pray for revival and reformation and to complete our 40-Days of prayer, which we ended with an online week of prayer with international evangelist, Pastor Lincoln Liking. He presented some beautiful messages under the theme “This Poor Man Cried” and Maureen joined in nightly to

listen in. On Sabbath, there were already preparations for baptisms and since our Chaplain was taking Maureen to church, they took an extra set of clothes FOR HER BY FAITH! By FAITH, when the call was made, Sister Maureen gave her life to Jesus on November 30, 2024, just over two months after her husband gave his life to Christ. She says that this decision is only going

to make her life better.
